Treat All Good Dog Food as you would any home cooked meal. We recommend that you do not leave All Good Dog Food in the bowl for longer than 2-3 hours.

All Good Dog Food contains no preservatives and is a meat-based product, and should therefor be kept in the same way you would keep food for yourself. Food should be stored in the freezer and thawed for serving. We recommend placing the frozen food in the fridge for a day prior to feeding. All Good Dog Food will last in the fridge for around 4 or 5 days (just like any fresh food product). The aluminum foil tray is microwavable safe if you need to defrost quickly, but the foil/paper lid is not.

AAFCO protein and fat levels are usually listed on a dry weight basis, whereas the proteins and fats listed on various dog food products are listed on an “as-is” basis, which includes water.  This difference in listings can lead to confusion when comparing dry foods to wet foods to fresh cooked foods as they are not easily compared properly. Each dog food has different levels of moisture and that will affect how much nutrients there actually is on a dry-weight basis.

When you see 24% Protein listed on a dry dog food and 7% on a canned dog food it does not mean the dry dog food has more protein!!

How can you do a true comparison?
There is a simple procedure you can use to determine the real actual (dry-weight) percentage of a specific dog food brand.

Find the percentage of protein listed on the dog food package.
Find the Percentage of moisture listed on the dog food label.
Subtract the percentage of moisture from 100 to get percentage of dry.
Divide the number you got in step 1 by the number in step 3 and multiply by 100.
Take 70% moisture and subtract from 100 to get 30% of dry. Divide 8.6 by 30 and multiply by 100. The dry-weight percentage of protein is 28.67%.

Omega-3 fatty acids, necessary for almost every organ in your dog’s body to thrive, particularly in terms of immune system function, can be derived from a variety of sources. Fish oil contains the valued DHA and EPA variety. These fatty acids are considered to have the most bioavailability to dogs and humans. Plant based sources of Omaga-3s, such as flaxseed, contain more of the ALA variety of fatty-acids which are not as readily utilized by the body. Bottom Line? Although higher in cost, fish oil is superior to flax or Canola oil, and is why All Good Dog Food chooses fish oil for its recipes.

Garlic, in large quantities, can be toxic to dogs just like any member of the Allium genus (onion, garlic, chives, scallion, and leek.) However in small quantities, most experts select garlic for it’s numerous health benefits. Garlic in a dog’s diet can have antioxidant, anti-clotting, and anti-cancer properties, as well as being proven to stimulate a dog’s immune function. As with all of our ingredients, we have consulted with animal nutritionists and vets, and keep our ingredients to within the recommended daily intake.

Not necessarily. You could cook a delicious nutritionally balanced meal for your dog at home, but we suggest doing lots of research before starting such a diet. All Good Dog Food has taken the legwork out of running around to animal nutritionists, vets, health food stores, and butcher shops to obtain the ingredients and know-how to deliver your dog a proper meal. Our relationship with suppliers and the fact that we have no middle man to mark-up our prices means we keep the cost down, and comparable to the cost of making the same food at home.

All Good Dog Food contains only human-grade fresh, and whenever possible local and organic ingredients. Although some of the same basic ingredients may go into kibble, the processing involved, cooking method, and preservatives added do nothing to maintain the nutritional value of the food. Unlike most commercial dog-food companies, we don’t select the rejected and unused scraps from the manufacture of human food, but rather we select only the highest quality human-grade ingredients. One example is our use of boneless, skinless chicken breasts and thighs, instead of “chicken meal” found in kibble.
